In February, Rabbi Barry Freundel, a pillar of the Washington DC modern Orthodox community, pleaded guilty to 52 counts of misdemeanor voyeurism for installing secret cameras in the shower room of the mikvah (ritual bath) adjacent to Kesher Israel, the synagogue he led for some 25 years.
Today, prosecutors are recommending he serve 17 years in prison. VOI’s Mottle Wolfe wonders if this sentence is excessive. He is joined in-studio by VOI’s Ruthie Blum and Joel Alan Katz of the Religion and State Blog, who weigh in on the matter, while Mottle takes calls from listeners.
