Jewish Music, Arab Spices and Armenian Night Life(25:06)
|
VOI's Judy Lash Balint takes a look at Jerusalem's multi-faceted culture.
She stops in at a conference on klezmer (traditional Eastern European Jewish) music, and hears from Orit Orbach, one of the few female klezmer musicians, and Gabriel Chouraki, a young classically trained violinist who has fallen in love with klezmer.
Then, another segment of the ‘People of the Old City’ series, this time featuring Harout Aslanian, owner of the Armenian Tavern, and Yakob Sheik Kassem, whose family operates the Eyes of Za’atar spice shop in the Muslim Quarter.
