Recently retired Israeli diplomat Ehud Gol, best-selling author of ‘Profession: Ambassador,’ joins VOI’s Daniel Seaman and Daniela Traub in-studio.
The 50-year Foreign Ministry veteran, who served as ambassador to Spain, Italy and Portugal, with tours in the US and Brazil, talks about what makes Israel’s diplomatic corps so unique. He says Israel is truly “alone among the nations;” recounts historic moments and humorous incidents; recalls how a diplomatic insult was transformed into a victory; and describes being brought to tears when he presented his credentials to the King of Spain, exactly 500 years after the edict of the expulsion of the Jews was decreed at the same location.
