Mottle Wolfe is joined by the author of a trending memoir about leaving the ultra-Orthodox world after discovering the Internet.
Shulem Deen was a Hasidic Jew living in the insular community of New Skver in upstate New York. The purchase of a computer for the school in which he taught led him to encounter the Internet. The world that opened up before him led to his questioning of tradition. Branded as a heretic by his rabbis, he was banished from his community and estranged from his wife and children. Mottle talks to him about his new book, “All Who Go Do Not Return,” in which he traces his harrowing journey, while offering an illuminating look at the highly secretive Hasidic world.
