The Murder of Rafik Hariri and the Victory of Adar19 February 2023
Dr. Ronen Bergman, senior military and intelligence affairs analyst for Yedioth Ahronoth, contributing writer for the New York Times and author of five best-selling books -- including "The Secret War with Iran" -- joins VOI's Yishai Fleisher to discuss a fascinating tale. Ten years ago, a massive blast killed Lebanese PM Rafik Hariri and 21 others around his motorcade. A taped confession of the suicide bomber was found. Yet DNA evidence at the scene did not match that taken from the toothbrush of the alleged perpetrator. It took the enterprising work of a young Lebanese police officer (who was later murdered) and an international team of investigators to break the case and tie it to Hezbollah and Syrian President Bashar Assad. Yet the trial, which has cost half a billion dollars, has no defendants -- because no one in Lebanon is willing to take on the Shiite militia.
Then, on Spiritual Cafe: The point exactly between the two cherubs on top of the Ark of the Covenant is an empty space from which the voice of the Lord was heard. Can one find that point and hear Him through prayer and meditation? Rabbi Mike Feuer joins Yishai to discuss the Biblical blueprint of Tabernacle vestments, the month of Adar, which we just entered -- that which symbolizes Jewish victory -- and finding God, even when you're down.
