First, VOI’s Dov Lipman is joined by Gershon Baskin, founder and CEO of the Israel-Palestine Center for Research and Information. Baskin, who has contact with Hamas’ political wing, says, “The missing Israelis are likely alive and in Gaza.” and explains what he thinks Israel should do in order to free them, to get Hamas to release the bodies of two Israeli soldiers and to prevent further conflicts between Hamas and Israel.
Then, Dov is joined by Jewish Agency Secretary-General Josh Schwartz, who describes efforts to make sure that all Jews feel at home in Israel and to strengthen the Jewish Diaspora. He reveals that 30,000 new immigrants are expected this year, alongside 11,000 Jewish youth participating in Jewish Agency programs in Israel.
Then, Dov is joined by Marc Rosenberg of Nefesh B’Nefesh, who talks about how his organization is preparing for 13 flights this summer, with 2,000 North Americans on board who are moving to Israel. He also says Nefesh B’Nefesh will do all it can to help these new immigrants arrive and succeed in the country.
Then, Dov answers a listener who asks what he thinks of the natural gas controversy. He says he believes the right balance has been achieved for rewarding the companies and Israeli citizens at the same time.
Finally, Dov teaches lessons from the two weekly Torah portions — one related to the need for leaders to keep their promises, and the other on the trials and tribulations involved in reclaiming our stake in the land of Israel.
