'Let My People In': Parenting a Child With Down Syndrome and Educating the Jewish Community

21 April 2023

VOI's Molly Livingstone is joined in-studio by Jodi Samuels, an immigrant to Israel from New York, where she co-founded Jewish International Connection New York (JICNY) and other ventures, such as Metroimma.com, a site for Jewish moms; Jdeal.com, a Jewish site offering great deals; jblasts, an e-mail marketing service; and "Buy Israel Week," an initiative to combat the BDS movement. The mother of three children, including a daughter with Down Syndrome, Jodi talks about what it's like finally living in Israel after many years of yearning to do so. She reveals how raising a child with special needs gave her the opportunity to become an activist and educator in the Jewish community, with the rallying cry: "Let my people in," and how her move to Israel is also a move for inclusivity of special-needs' kids.
