As the deadline for a nuclear deal with Iran draws closer, and the Western powers appear likely to sign a bad deal, Yesh Atid party chairman and former finance minister Yair Lapid stated: “On this issue there is no opposition and coalition in Israel. We’re all united against a bad deal.” He did however, go on to say, “If this bad deal is signed, it is a failure” of PM Netanyahu’s. The panel thinks a bad deal is imminent, but not the failure of Israel’s prime minister.
Last week, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a report condemning Israel for war crimes ostensibly committed during Operation Protective Edge. It called the death, destruction and human suffering in Gaza “unprecedented.” Given the death, destruction and human suffering occurring all over the Middle East, the panel considers this statement indicative of just how biased the report is. The panel also points to the significance of India’s having abstained from the vote on the report, while the European powers voted in favor of its findings.
This summer, Israel will be commemorating 10 years since its disengagement from Gaza. Some consider it a successful move, while others believe it was a monumental failure. The panel weighs in.
Yesterday, the government repealed the conversion reform law that passed just seven months ago. The panel discusses the reform, why it was repealed and whom it affects.
